Question: You're really brave for being Research Assitant in Microbiology, how do you manage to learn all the stuffs about Microbiology when you have dyspraxia?
Well, that’s why I mostly work on computers – then I don’t have to do the fiddly lab work which is more difficult with dyspraxia. I can do most of my work wherever I like, today I am just sitting in a nice cafe!
Also, I had a lot of help at university. There is a special pot of money called Disabled Students Allowance which is to help disabled people at university. This helped me with lots of things, like recording lectures instead of taking notes, and someone to talk to to help me be organised. At work there is also special funding called ‘Access to Work’ which can help with things like that.
