Learning new things all the time, and talking to interesting people from all round the world about science – recently I went to Spain to learn a new sort of maths.

Discovering things that no one else has seen before and going to meet new people in your field of work. It’s so interesting seeing new people and exchanging ideas.

I quite like how practical and real it is. I see what I do and make and discover. If I worked in an office, its not really a physical work in the same way.

Understanding the research that other scientists do I think! Seeing other researchers use the most cutting edge technology to ask questions about how the immune system fights bacteria and viruses is really interesting to me.
