Hi, I think my favourite one has been devising a medium to grow one of the most challenging of bugs that had defied others for many years.

At school I loved the experiments my chemistry teacher would do, where he would make explosions in the school playing field – I thought I might work on fireworks because of this.

I am very excited about my current study, because it is the biggest project I have ever been involved in, I will be looking at the medical records of about 20 000 people from across Scotland!

Hmm… Mine has to be this experiment to see if my protein was active. Proteins are basically biological “machines” within a cell that preform a specific function. I needed to see if this protein was working or not and I extracted it from the cell put into a gel and it changes the gel from yellow to purple and it was really cool to watch!
