Because you get to learn interesting things all the time, and find out new things that nobody else knows!

Many reasons! The best one for me is if you get excited by figuring out why things are the way they are. In science you get to ask, ‘Why?’, ‘How?’ and ‘What if?’ every day.

You can also choose to work in really important areas, like researching the causes of and cures for diseases which negatively affect many, many people. You have to be prepared to put in a lot of effort – experiments don’t always work! But that is part of the fun, and makes it all the more worthwhile. You definitely don’t need to be a genius! Just prepared to read lots, to make mistakes and learn from them.

And you have to be suspicious! If someone tells you something amazing, the first thing you have to say is, ‘Are you sure?’. Then you check what they’ve done and you decide if you agree!

If these things appeal to you then you should definitely become a scientist 🙂

It gets you a lot of street cred with non-scientists! 😉

Seriously, its fun and interesting and you can help people and discover new stuff. But its also hard and frustrating and badly paid…

It depends what you want from life really…
