The hardest things are the times when nothing seems to be working, when you don’t know what to do, and your research seems to have reached a brick wall. This is the point where the little voice in my head starts telling me that it is my fault, that I’m stupid, that it’s never going to work. It says “give up! this is too difficult for you, get an easier life”.

However, although these are the hard times, they are also the times I look back on and can see considerable personal growth and my growth as a scientist and investigator. These are the times when my ability to think independently, to stand alone without back up, to find solutions were really tested. However, if you want gold, then you have to use the crucible and there will be fire!
