I use a lot of different equipment really. They range from things like a centrifuge (spins things down really fast to separate bacteria from media for example), gel electrophoresis which you can use to look at different DNA and proteins, and plate readers which can look at growth of bacteria. The one piece of equipment I do use however that is specific to my work is the ICPMS machine. It basically tells me what metals in what concentration are in my cells that I have grown. I use this a lot in my work and it just heats up the liquid with my cells in so they turn to gas and fires them at a detector which tells me how much metals I have.
