I am glad that I am only a very junior baby scientist, so I don’t have to spend much time applying for more money! But for more senior scientists this can take up a lot of time.

I spend all of my time doing research! Maybe after I have finished my PhD and done one or two post-doctoral jobs I would start to think about finding my own funding for projects – this could be a few years away yet!

I’m a bit too early in my scientific career to be trying to get significant funding for myself. I currently have a four year MRC funded PhD studentship. When this ends I will apply for job positions called post docs which already have funding available (if I decide to stay in academic science).
